![]() From collaborations with historians, I formalize the workflow of historical network analysis starting at the acquisition of sources to the final visual analysis. The goal of this thesis is therefore to propose visual analytics tools integrated into the global social historians' workflow, with guided and easy-to-use analysis capabilities. For these reasons, social historians are not always able to make thorough historical conclusions: many studies consist of qualitative descriptions of network drawings highlighting the presence of motifs such as cliques, components, bridges, etc. However, the inspection and encoding of the sources leading to a finalized network is intricate and often results in inconsistencies, errors, distortions, and traceability problems, and current visualization tools typically have usability and interpretability issues. The use of visualization and analytical methods lets social historians explore and describe the social structure shaping those groups while explaining sociological phenomena and individual behaviors through computed network measures. Historical social network analysis is a method to study social relationships between groups of actors (families, institutions, companies, etc.) through a reconstruction of relationships of the past from historical documents, such as marriage acts, migration forms, birth certificates, and censuses. This thesis aims at identifying theoretically and concretely how visual analytics can support historians in their social network analysis process. Therefore, this article attempts to provide a succinct overview of SNA in diverse topological networks (static, temporal, and evolving networks) and perspective (ego‐networks). ![]() It helps in understanding the dependencies between social entities in the data, characterizing their behaviors and their effect on the network as a whole and over time. ![]() In addition to the usual statistical techniques of data analysis, these networks are investigated using SNA measures. Unfortunately a financial disappointment, "Steve Jobs" deserves the same level of praise as "The Social Network.Social network analysis (SNA) is a core pursuit of analyzing social networks today. Sorkin is somewhat sympathetic to both figures and notes the degree of their accomplishments, but doesn't shy away from making them seem selfish, militant, and often completely unlikeable. Like Eisenberg, Michael Fassbender gives a complex performance as the co-founder of a tech giant that is uncanny in its accuracy. Paired with another singular filmmaker in Danny Boyle, Sorkin depicts the background drama that unfolded during three pivotal product launches for Apple. Later, Sorkin gave a similar treatment to one of the most important tech figures of all time with "Steve Jobs." "The Social Network" explored how the birth of a network designed to connect people ultimately drives them further apart, and it's told in an intriguing nonlinear fashion. However, in his later projects, Sorkin left behind his optimism to examine how new technology intersects with modern relationships.
