![]() Other than that, they're very different racing games and it's highly unlikely that FlatOut 3 will suddenly become an MMO just because Burnout did it. ![]() The only thing FlatOut 2 blatantly copied, were the menu's. ![]() I'm still not sure what to think about Burnout Paradise - on one hand I image it to be extremely fun to mess around in an open world city sandbox, on the other hand I love classically linear, arcade style racing games.Ĭlick to expand.Funny how FlatOut and Burnout aren't even remotely similar then, let alone FlatOut 2 and Revenge. I loved the first two Burnouts, but I don't like the direction the series went from on from there. While FlatOut is some kind of a strongly enhanced reincarnation of Destruction Derby 1+2 that combines the advantages of realism and arcade fun and creates literally ultimate carnage during races, Burnout is one hell of a thrilling speed ride without any realistic approach. Other than that it's an entirely different approach: FlatOut's handling always was far more realistic than Burnout's (especially in the very first FlatOut), FlatOut deals with an enormous amount of realtime physics and destructible environments, actually has and ever had an "active" damage model (not just sequences that show your car being wrecked only seconds before you can continue driving undamaged), and introduced drivers being thrown out of the cars at heavy crashes, including mini games solely dealing with this feature. This is a very important difference in gameplay, and this is what makes flatout more favorable to me than burnout.Ĭlick to expand.Seriously, wtf?! Have you ever played one of the FlatOut games?
